You will visit the hospital the previous day from your surgery date. Your personal assistant (PA) will help you with the administrative details and paperwork related to your admission. You will be shown to your room and be helped with your orientation in the hospital. In the afternoon or evening, the anaesthetist will visit you and willhave a consultation with you in order to confirm the final details about your anaesthesia and perioperative analgesia. Later on, Dr Giotikas will also visit you for an in person introduction, consultation and final review of your treatment plan.
We suggest that is better to sleep at the hospital the night before the surgery in order to mentally prepare yourself for the upcoming operation. Being in a foreign country and sleeping in a hotel room the night before a scheduled surgery is not the same as sleeping at home.
If, though, you prefer to sleep at your accomodation and to come to the hospital early in the morning of the surgery day, feel free to discuss it with your surgeon.
In any case you will be instructed to refrain from solid food (including milk and juices with pulp) after midnight. Clear fluids (water, tea, refreshements) are allowed until 03.00am.
